Shawnna and Ricardo : Augusta, GA : WeddingsIt was about twenty years ago, you know when cabbage patches were all the rage (at least for me they were lol) , playing house, and the infamous woman that no one could compare… Barbie. My cousins had this dollhouse and it was awesome. Even then she would say, “I’m never getting married, yet she almost always had the Ken doll… It was inevitable. Growing up with just my mom and I, there was never a dull moment, and one thing for sure, you did not have sleep-overs. Well, that is except with my cousins, Shawnna & Jamie (Jami now, you know we all lose letters the older we get, look at me… Ms. T). Boy do I have some stories to tell about our sleep-overs, like the time the bunk beds fell on my head while Shawnna was making her bed, or the time I stuck my head in the ceiling fan! Either way, that’s not what this is about. We did everything together. We even flew to spend the summer in San Antonio, TX all by ourselves! It was my first SOLO flight, but their first flight. Shawnna, the oldest of our bunch was scared to death! I wonder if she’s even flown since then… hmm I will have to ask her about that. She even bit me on my arm mid-air, but those were the days. We don’t hang out anymore since we live a few hours away, but I promise we will get better.
A few weeks ago, my phone rings, and it her, “Guess what cuz,” she said. I’m like “What’s up?” and then she dropped the first whammy! “I’m going into the military!” Ok, now I think you really have to known Shawnna to understand how shocked I was by this, heck I’m still shocked! Then the next whammy, “I’m getting married, Memorial Weekend!” Ok, wait a minute, you’re what, is all I could think of at this point. It wasn’t April Fool’s Day, and she wasn’t laughing, this was serious! “WOW! Congrats!” is I could think of because I was stunned, and then it began.
So the morning was May 23, 2009, and the highway was calling my name. Only one thing was missing, my chauffer! Oh boy, I have to drive, ugh, but oh well let’s go, with mama and my four ducklings in tow. We’re going to leave all the fun details of our highway adventure off, I still get a little “Flustered” thinking about it! Lol We stayed at a wonderful hotel in Augusta, and who would guess, “hmmm I wonder if they are part of the wedding I thought, as they walked upstairs with a deep fryer in tow?” Yep, that’s her auntie from Louisiana. So here we are all at the Jameson Inn, which was fabulous to my photographer’s eye. I wish I had been there longer, because I would have definitely shot in the lobby, so chic! After everyone got changed, we headed over to the venue, The Gordon Club.
One of the benefits of being a photographer is simple. When everyone else is put out, you are almost 95% of the time welcomed in, especially by a coordinator or decorator… Why is that you wonder? Because of course they would love to see you capture their work, and boy did they do a fabulous job. We would like to send a big shout out to Mr. Russell of Russell’s Weddings & Events . He did a FABULOUS job. The man knows his stuff, and I look forward to working with him again, HOPEFULLY in September! Either way, I guess I need to sum this up if you’ve stuck with me this long… Just know that couple, I love you, the day was fabulous, and hopefully the images speak just how happy you were.
One Luv, Ms. T the photographer
